The Second UN Sustainable Transport Conference is open to participation by representatives of Member States of the United Nations; representatives of States members of Specialized Agencies; representatives of intergovernmental organizations that have received standing invitations from the General Assembly to participate in conferences in the capacity of observers and other intergovernmental organizations; representatives of NGOs in consultative status with the ECOSOC and stakeholders representing the private sector, civil society, the scientific and technological communities and local governments. The meetings of the Conference are also open to representatives of information media accredited by the United Nations.

Due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, the Conference will be held in a "hybrid format" with virtual and in-person participation. The in-person participation will be limited to delegations and other participants who are already in Beijing. Registration for in-person participation is open from 1 September to 9 October 2021. All in-person participants who have received the approval of their application to participate in the conference from the UN Indico system are reminded that, due to necessary COVID-19 related mitigation measures, are also required to apply for the ‘Access Pass’ that will be issued by the Host Government at: . This ‘Access Pass’ is a pre-requisite to enter the China National Convention Center in Beijing, to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all participants. Please note that the UN badges and the Host Government ‘Access Pass’ can be collected from the China National Convention Center in Beijing, on Wednesday 13 October between 8am and 10pm.

At the suggestion of the host country, we want to draw the attention of UN Members, UN Agencies and IGOs to a special note, which applies to the Opening Day of the Conference:

Registration will open on 1 September 2021 and close on 9 October 2021. There will be NO on-site registration at the Conference venue in Beijing.

 

In-person participants: Registration required.

Registration of official delegations of intergovernmental organizations having received a standing invitation to participate as observers in the sessions and the work of the General Assembly, who are attending the Conference in-person is handled by the United Nations Protocol and Liaison Service via an online registration system “INDICO” at . Please note that registration is required only for members of the delegations attending the Conference in person in Beijing. Official delegations must go through their Observer Missions of the organizations to the United Nations in New York or their head offices. Submission of registrations for members of the official delegations is restricted only to the “designated eRegistration users” of the Permanent Missions in New York, who have been duly pre-approved by the Protocol and Liaison Service. Individual members of the official delegations will not be able to register themselves via the INDICO system. Note that as part of the registration process, a copy of the official delegation list must be uploaded on to the INDICO system.

 

Virtual participants: Registration not required.

 

It is not necessary to register virtual participants via INDICO. All meetings of the Conference will be accessible virtually through a dedicated Zoom platform. For delegations attending the Conference virtually, the United Nations Secretariat will share the links to the meetings on the Zoom platform through the e-deleGATE Portal. Participants without access to the e-deleGATE portal may receive the link through a separate communication prior to the meetings. For security reasons, the meeting links should not be shared or forwarded except within a delegation.

In-person participants:  Registration required.

Registration is required for all UN staff members who have been designated to support the Conference onsite and those representatives of United Nations Funds and Programmes, Regional Commissions and UN Secretariat who wish to attend the Conference in person in Beijing,  via the online registration system “INDICO” at .  Please use your official UN email for the registration otherwise your application may be denied.

Please note that the United Nations Secretariat shall not provide support or assistance in any kind for Chinese Visa Application. All participants in this category should be based in China or are already present in China at the time of registration, except for those who will travel from UNHQ to service the Conference in-person.

 

Virtual participants:  Registration not required.

It is not necessary to register virtual participants via INDICO.  Invited speakers attending the Conference virtually will receive a dedicated link to the virtual platform, provided by the Secretariat. All proceedings of the Conference will be live streamed on UN WebTV.

In-person participants: Registration required.

Registration of official delegations of UN Specialized Agencies and related organizations who are attending the Conference in-person is handled by the United Nations Protocol and Liaison Service via an online registration system “INDICO” at . Please note that registration is required only for members of the delegations attending the Conference in person in Beijing. Official delegations must go through their Liaison Offices in New York or their head offices. Submission of registrations for members of the official delegations is restricted only to the “designated eRegistration users” of the Liaison Offices in New York or of their head offices, who have been duly pre-approved by the Protocol and Liaison Service. Individual members of the official delegations will not be able to register themselves via the INDICO system. Note that as part of the registration process, a copy of the official delegation list must be uploaded on to the INDICO system.

Media accreditation is strictly reserved for members of the press – print, photo, radio, TV, film, news agencies and online journalists – who represent a bona fide media organization, and official media of participating delegations. Representatives of media wishing to attend the conference in-person are requested to submit their registration through the INDICO platform at:

All members of the press are required to register online for the Conference. Confirmation of your accreditation will be sent to the email address provided in the form.

Double accreditation (e.g., both as a journalist and a delegate) is not allowed.

Pre-registration of representatives of non-governmental organizations in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC accredited NGOs)

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, only those representatives of ECOSOC accredited NGOs who are currently based in Beijing can request registration to participate in-person as observers in the Second Global Sustainable Transport Conference.

Representatives of ECOSOC accredited NGOs who are not based in Beijing will be able to follow all Conferences's proceedings online. Please, sign up to the mailing list to receive updates about the Conference.

  • In-person participation in plenary and thematic sessions will depend on the COVID-19 protocols in effect at the time of the Conference and may require the use of secondary access passes to be distributed on-site. Guidance about how to access such secondary passes, if necessary, will be shared with the approved registered participants accordingly.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, only those representatives of relevant stakeholders who are currently based in Beijing can request registration to participate in-person as observers in the United Nations Second Global Sustainable Transport Conference.

Stakeholders who are not based in Beijing will be able to follow all Conferences's proceedings online. Please, sign up to the mailing list to receive updates about the Conference.
