At 11:00 a.m., there will be a hybrid press briefing by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and on the Progress on the Sustainable Development Goals: The Gender Snapshot 2024.This report presents the latest trends and challenges on the achievement of gender equality across all the Sustainable Development Goals. Jean-Pierre Lacroix, the Under-Secretary-General for ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ Operations, will visit the Democratic Republic of the Congo for a week starting today.ÌýWhile in the country, he will engage with national authorities and other relevant partners. Mr. Lacroix will start his visit in Kinshasa where he is scheduled to meet with the President, Felix Tshisekedi, the Prime Minister Judith Tuluka Suminwa, newly appointed Cabinet members, as well as key political and institutional actors. They will exchange on latest developments and the implementation of the peacekeeping mission’s mandate. He will then travel to North Kivu and Ituri to assess recent developments first-hand and to engage with provincial authorities, UN staff, local communities, civil society organizations, and relevant actors in the east.Ìý

At 1:00 p.m., the opening Session of the will take place under the theme of "#YouthLead for the Future: We believe in the promise of a better world for all". The Summit of the Future Action Days will be convened by the Secretary-General of the United Nations on 20 and 21 September 2024 at United Nations Headquarters in New York to generate additional opportunities for the engagement of all actors. The Action Days will kick off with a dedicated, youth-led afternoon followed by a Saturday programme which will focus on three priority themes – digital and technology, peace and security, and sustainable development and financing. In addition to the three themes, there will also be a dedicated focus throughout the day on future generations.ÌýÌý
